"POKEMON GO" SERVERS DOWN, WEEKEND BRINGS SEEMING CRUSH OF PLAYERS

There must have been a lot of trainers hoping to use their weekend to get out there and catch Pokemon, because the Pokemon GO server appear to the down once again. I've been unable to sign in for abaut an hour, and a steady stream of frustration on sosial media and reports on third party sites seem to indicate that there are a lot of other people having the same issue. I've reached out to Niantic and will post any updates here.

Pokemon GO saw some pretty severe server instability immediately after it launched on July 6, leaving many unnable to sign in, populate their map, or create accounts. The game has since recovered, and has seemed pretty stable throughout the past week, a few crashes and other glitches notwithstanding. During that time it's become a massive phenomenon, rocketing to the topof every chart and snagging 21 milion daily active user as of a few days ago. Niantic has presed ahead with a European rollout over the course of last week, and is planning to release in as many countries as posible.

All that appears to have been too much for the technical side of things, and
the servers appear to once again be buckling under the strain. I'm usually able to get to the loading screen, only to be met with this message below :

We"ll keep you posted as things progress. Hopefully Niantic can get things together sooner rather than later: it's a beautiful day, and the world is teeming with Pokemon. (I should also note that a hacker group has claimed credit for an apparent DDOS, but people often take credit for high-profile server outgates)
